Gomora United were held to a 1-1 draw by Upington City FC at Malamulele Stadium on Saturday, but the strong support from local fans again turned the venue into one of the most energetic match atmospheres in the league.
The visitors from the Northern Cape took the lead in the first half when G. Khupe converted a penalty to put Upington City ahead.
Gomora United had already created several chances earlier in the half but failed to convert them.

The mood inside Malamulele Stadium changed after the break as supporters rallied behind the home side. Fans filled the stands with chants and songs, urging the players forward.
Their support paid off in the second half when Thutlo Tiklas scored the equaliser for Gomora United, sparking celebrations among the packed crowd.
Gomora pushed for a winner in the closing stages and created clear chances late in the game, but were unable to find a second goal.
Despite the draw, the team remains unbeaten at Malamulele Stadium. Supporters have begun calling the venue the “House of Pain”, reflecting the growing reputation of the stadium as a difficult place for visiting teams.
Much of the renewed connection between the club and its supporters has been credited to the club’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Vusi Ntimane, who previously worked with Polokwane City F.C. and Cape Town City F.C..
Speaking after the match, Ntimane thanked the community and the local municipality for their support.
“We would like to thank Collins Chabane Local Municipality for allowing us to call Malamulele Stadium our home,” he said.
“And to all the fans who responded to our call to rally behind the team, we truly appreciate your support. Thank you, and let’s meet again on Saturday.”
With strong backing from the community and Malamulele Stadium developing a reputation as a tough venue for visitors, Gomora United’s home matches are drawing growing interest from local football supporters.
