A man arrested in connection with the 2024 killing of Dumisani Mabobo is expected to appear in the Waterval Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 17 April, according to the family. The suspect was arrested on 10 April, nearly two years after Mabobo (21) was stabbed and robbed of his laptop near the Hubyeni Shopping Complex in Elim.
He died in hospital from multiple stab wounds. The killing sparked protests at the time, with residents burning tyres and targeting stalls linked to alleged drug activity.
Mabobo’s family said they are calling on the community to support them during the court process.
“We have been waiting for a long time. We just want justice for my child,” said his mother, Popi Maluleke.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
