South African podcast Podcast and Chill with MacG has been ranked number 36 in the world, according to the show’s creators, marking a milestone for one of the country’s most widely followed digital platforms.
The announcement was shared with the podcast’s audience, known as “Chillers”, thanking listeners for their support and engagement. The team credited the ranking to the community’s consistent sharing of content and interaction across platforms.
“Ranking in the top 50 globally isn't just a win for us; it’s a win for this entire community,” the podcast said in a statement to its followers. “It shows the world that when Chillers unite, we don’t just participate, we dominate.”
Launched by broadcaster and media personality Macgyver Mukwevho, the podcast has grown into one of South Africa’s most influential online talk shows. It features interviews with musicians, public figures, and commentators, often discussing entertainment, politics and social issues.
Over the years, the platform has built a large online following and regularly trends on social media when new episodes are released.
The team said the global ranking has strengthened their ambition to push the podcast even further.
“Our mission is to take over the number one spot, and we know we can get there with you behind us,” the statement said.
Listeners were encouraged to subscribe to the channel and enable notifications so they do not miss new episodes.
The podcast’s success reflects the growing influence of South African digital creators in the global media space, with locally produced content increasingly reaching international audiences.
