A 41-year-old man was arrested by the Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics Investigation Unit for dealing and possession of drugs in the Polokwane Central Business District (CBD) on Tuesday, 10 February. The arrest followed information received about a motor vehicle suspected of transporting drugs.
Officers identified a Volkswagen Polo matching the description and instructed the driver to stop. A search of the vehicle uncovered a plastic bag containing a variety of suspected drugs, including cat and crystal meth, with an estimated street value of R50,000.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 11 February. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, SAPS spokesperson said, the arrest of this suspect demonstrates our continued commitment to disrupting drug trafficking in the Polokwane CBD.
“We urge members of the community to continue providing information that helps us combat organised crime. The investigation into the matter is ongoing,” said Ledwaba.
