Police in Limpopo intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting drugs on the R36 near Ga Moraba village on Saturday morning, 21 February. Officers found a blue VW Polo Vivo parked on the roadside with two men, aged 22 and 44, inside.
After searching the vehicle, police discovered seven bags of dagga wrapped in brown sellotape. The men were arrested at the scene and charged with dealing in dagga.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the operation was based on intelligence aimed at disrupting drug trafficking routes.
“The intelligence-driven operation resulted in the interception of a large quantity of dagga before it could reach its destination. Police remain committed to combating drug-related crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice,” he said.
Police said the confiscated dagga weighed about 117.45kg and had an estimated street value of about R1 million. Investigations are under way to determine where the drugs came from and whether others were involved.
