Police in Haenertsburg are searching for four suspects who allegedly stole a cellphone from a filling station office using what investigators believe were false number plates. The incident happened on Friday, 13 March 2026, at about 6pm.
According to Limpopo police, the group arrived in a grey Volkswagen Polo and entered the office pretending to buy oil. While staff were assisting them, a woman in the group allegedly took an employee’s cellphone.

The suspects then left the scene in the same vehicle. Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the suspects, described as three men and one woman, have not yet been identified and remain at large. “Investigators are particularly concerned about the use of false number plates, which may have helped the group avoid detection,” said Ledwaba.
Haenertsburg police are asking the public to help identify the suspects and the vehicle seen in circulated images linked to the case. Anyone with information can contact Detective Warrant Officer Glenda Mathebula on 082 414 3031, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
