A 23-year-old man has been arrested after a burglary and car crash at a plot in Nkuri Sifasonke village near Giyani in Limpopo. Police say the incident happened in the early hours of Friday, 7 February.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, a 41-year-old woman was alerted by one of her employees that unknown people were attempting to steal a vehicle from her property. When she arrived, she found a bedroom window open and burglar bars forced.
The keys to a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 were missing. The vehicle was allegedly driven out of the yard and crashed into a house on the same premises, damaging both the vehicle and the house wall. Police said preliminary investigations showed that one of the woman’s employees was allegedly involved in the incident. The suspect was later traced and arrested.
Mashaba said investigations are continuing. The suspect is expected to appear in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 10 February. He faces charges of burglary at a residence, using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, and malicious damage to property.
